TeleVisits

April 3, 2020:

Century Ear Nose and Throat Head and Neck surgery Associates is excited to add TeleVisits.

These newly developed visits allow our surgeons to perform many of the functions of an in-office visit from the safety and comfort of your own home.  These visits will seem very much like a typical office visit.  A doctor or member of our staff will contact you, take your family and social history, and any vitals you can provide.

TeleVisits have been improving daily.  Visits are being hosted by our practice's Electronic Medical Record service.

For patients registrered with our Healow patient portal who have a laptop computer or desktop PC with webcam and microphone we recommend using the healow TeleVisit.  This looks and feels more like a typical exam.  The doctor can see you and communicate directly as if they were in the room.

Recently, functionality has been enhanced to allow you to start your televisit from your smart-phone.  Clicking the link in your email on your phone will allow you to start the visit from your phone, allowing you to use the camera and microphone built into your device.

If you don't have the technology, we can preform these visits over the phone, again, asking the same questions as a normal exam.

Most insurance companies have expanded in recent weeks to allow for televisits.  These visits are billable to your insurance company.  Many insurance companies are waiving the patient portion of these visits.  Century will make every effort to reduce the cost to our patients on televisits during the Coronavirus/Covid-19 outbreak, forgiving patient co-pays for telemedicine visits.

Our office can schedule a TeleVisit for types of visits that don't require procedures, scopes, or where a physical exam may be deferred.  They are a great opportunity to review test results, or deal with routine issues.  The office will ask questions to be sure you qualify and add you to a scheduled time.

Within 15-30 minutes of your visit, a member of our staff will call to begin the visit.  If you receive the link, please log on and allow us time to join the video conference.  If your TeleMedicine visit is by phone, we will call you and transfer to the doctor to finish your visit.

We look forward to improving these visits and making more widely available in the coming weeks.
