About Our Practice
Century Ear, Nose and Throat was created in 1960 under Dr. Louis F. Scaramella. This practice was established during the Golden Age of ear surgery. He established himself on numerous hospital staffs on the south side and the first location was at 80th and Western in Chicago.
In 1975, the practice moved to the third floor of the Capitol federal Savings & Loan Building in Palos Heights. Dr. Brian Farrell met Dr. Scaramella through his father, William Farrell, M.D. a staff pediatrician at Little Company of Mary Hospital. In the summer of 1986, the practice doubled its production.
In the Mid 1990’s, Dr. Philip Kooiker and Silvio Marra were added to the group. They brought with them the expertise in the latest techniques in head and neck cancer surgery and pediatric surgery. This addition allowed the practice to be open six days per week and also offered evening hours.
In 1998, the practice moved to their current main location in Orland Park. This allowed the group to be easily available to various geographic areas. The name Century was chosen to reflect the goal of continued progress in providing up to date services in the field of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery.
Since the move to Orland Park, the practice continued to grow as Century added specialty university level care close to your home. Curtis Walsh, MD, a fellowship trained plastic surgeon, Nirav Thakkar, MD, a fellowship trained Head and Neck Oncological and Muhamad Amine, MD, a fellowship trained Rhinologist and Skull Base surgeon all joined soon after. Krystyna Gal, DO continued to help grow the General Otolaryngology practice.
